CALVARY COMMUNITY GARDENS
In May of 2009, the Calvary Growing in Grace Community Garden was consecrated to serve the Richmond community. It's mission: to bring our community together and learn about healthier lifestyles through gardening. In the sixteen months since our garden has been open, we have:

- Donated most of harvest to Helping Hands , a local food pantry and the Women's Shelter
- Been the recipient of over 100,000 dollars of in-kind donations from the community
- Helped provide over 400 students opportunities for community service
- Provided field trip opportunities for over 200 kids
- Held three community wide events:
- 2009 ,2010 NationalNight Out (with the Richmond Police Dept.)
- EasterEgg Hunt (over 100 kids participated)
Planned and soon to start a Junior Master Gardener Course for students from Jane Long Elementary and one for students from Calvary Episcopal School.
Helping Hands
With this simple expression of sacrificial call, our Lord is calling us to always treat those in need as if they were Jesus himself. The Helping Hands charity of Rosenbreg/Richmond gives Calvary the opportunity to fulfill a portion of that call by helping to provide temporary assistance to needy individuals or families in West Fort Bend County. Together, with other churches in this area, we pledge to have at least two food and clothing drives a year, while also providing a regular monetary contribution in support of the charity.
However, giving to this charity is not limited to the members of the Calvary parish. For over ten years, the children of Calvary Episcopal School have held a food and clothing drive. Originally, this expression of service and goodwill was organized and taught to the school's student council as part of a scout's Eagle Project from Calvary's own Boy Scout Troop 1000.
Over the years, other Troop 1000 Scouting activities and Eagle Projects have constructed shelving, replaced flooring, painted offices and supplied various other opportunities for Calvary Scouts to fulfill the service requirements for advancement in the Scouting program.
Additionally, many members of the Calvary family reguarly volunteer in the Food Pantry, Clothes Closet, and in the charity's office. Of course, more volunteers are always needed and welcome to help!
Contact: Helping Hands directly by calling (281) 232-4904 or drop by anytime during regular hours, 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They are located at 902 Collins Street, Richmond, Texas 77469
ADOPT-A-FAMILY
Since 1999, Calvary families have opened their hearts to share holiday joy in Richmond, by bringing Christmas in to the homes of families less privileged than ourselves. Working with the nurses and social workers of area schools, families in need of help are identified. We shop, wrap and deliver gifts of toys, clothing, treats, and an age appropriate Bible.
Please consider helping by adopting a family, or donating to this ministry. The sign up to ‘adopt’ a family begins on the first two Sundays of December.
