Terms of Service

These Terms of Service apply to episcopalassetmap.org (the “Site”), a joint project of Episcopal Relief & Development and the Episcopal Church (collectively, “we”), that contains the Episcopal Asset Map. These Terms of Service set forth the terms and conditions that govern your access to and use of the Site and its contents (such contents, collectively, the “Content”). This Site is intended for those seeking or providing information about ministries and activities of Episcopal entities throughout the Episcopal Church.

Your visit to the Site is subject to, and you agree to be bound by, both these Terms of Service and our Privacy Statement, which is incorporated herein, as each may be amended from time to time. Amendments and updates will be effective upon our posting a notice of the modified Terms of Service or Privacy Statement on this page. We recommend that you regularly check this page to review any posted updates. Your continued use of the Site after such notice has been posted constitutes your acceptance of the Terms of Service and/or Privacy Statement as revised.

Uses of the Site and Content

Use of the Site

You may use the Site to access information about ministries and activities of Episcopal entities throughout the Episcopal Church (such as local Episcopal facilities). Such entities include dioceses, parishes, schools and other Episcopal networks and communities. In accessing such information, you may copy, print and download pages of the Site for personal, noncommercial purposes. You may not alter or modify the Content in such copies or remove any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices or legends.

Contributing to the Episcopal Asset Map

You may submit information for inclusion on the Episcopal Asset Map regarding ministries and activities of Episcopal entities throughout the Episcopal Church (“Contributed Content”). Contributed Content may include information submitted for inclusion on the Episcopal Asset Map, including to add entities (via the “Suggest a place for this map” link), to update information on entities already included on the map (via the “Update A Place” tab), or to add additional content regarding already-included entities, including video links or story links to third-party websites, along with a corresponding description (via the “Share A Story” tab). All Contributed Content will be reviewed by an administrator prior to posting on the Episcopal Asset Map.

By providing Contributed Content, you acknowledge and agree that you own or are otherwise authorized to post such Contributed Content and that you may grant us the following license. You grant us (and those we work with) a worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual license to use, store, modify, publish, distribute, display and reproduce the content you contribute without compensation or notification. Your Contributed Content may not violate or infringe the rights of others or applicable laws and regulations, be offensive, harassing, threatening or objectionable, contain a virus or other harmful component, or contain advertising or any commercial or other solicitation. You acknowledge and agree that Contributed Content that you provide is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate, and that if the information becomes inaccurate at any time, you will revise or submit accurate, updated information as soon as reasonably possible.

Our Use of the Site and Content

We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor and review the Site, and/or Contributed Content or other information provided by you or others, for violations of these Terms of Use or inaccuracies. We reserve the right to not post, remove, edit and/or reinstate any Contributed Content, at the sole discretion of the Site’s administrators. We may terminate your ability to provide Contributed Content to the Site at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without prior notice.

Links to Third-Party Sites

The Site contains links to, and may be linked from, other websites that are not maintained by us, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as the websites of Episcopal entities throughout The Episcopal Church. We do not endorse, have any responsibility for, or make any representations about any other websites. If you follow links from the Site to other websites, you will be subject to the terms and conditions, and any other privacy or security policies, of such website.

Trademarks and Other Intellectual Property

THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH and certain other marks displayed on the Site are trademarks and service marks owned by, or licensed to, the Episcopal Church or Episcopal Relief & Development. You may not use these marks, or any other of our marks or of any of our affiliated entities, in any manner that could indicate that you own such marks or that they are associated with you or your affiliates, or in any other manner without the consent of the applicable owner.

All Content (including, but not limited to, text, images, illustrations, photographs, charts, data and code) included on the Site is provided by contributors or owned by us, and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property law.

Site Security

We do not guarantee the security of the Site. Transmissions to and from this Site may be insecure. Your use of the Site is entirely at your own risk.

This Privacy Statement explains how we collect information about you when you visit the Site and view its contents (such contents, collectively, the “Content”), and how we store and use such information.

This Privacy Statement is incorporated into the Terms of Service. By using the Site, you accept both this Privacy Statement and the Terms of Service, either of which may be updated at any time. Collection and Use of Information

The Site relies on crowdsourcing to provide information for inclusion on the Episcopal Asset Map regarding the ministries and activities of Episcopal entities throughout The Episcopal Church (“Contributed Content”). Such entities include dioceses, parishes, schools and other Episcopal networks and communities. You may provide Contributed Content in accordance with the Terms of Use.

We collect personally identifiable information if, and when, you provide it to us (for example, through the contact form under the “Contact Us” tab of the Site or in connection with submitting any Contributed Content). Personally identifiable information is information that directly identifies you, or your ministry or parish, such as your name, address, telephone number, or email address.

We may include on the Episcopal Asset Map any Contributed Content that you submit and, if we do so, that Contributed Content will then be accessible to any visitor to the Site. We may also use the information we collect from you to contact you, in order to provide information if you have requested it, to confirm information that you submit, inform you that data you submit has been approved, or to confirm that you are not a bot.

Disclosure of Information

Any Contributed Content that you submit and that we include on the Episcopal Asset Map will be public. In addition, we may use Contributed Content to create promotional materials for the Episcopal Map, or otherwise for The Episcopal Church and Episcopal Relief & Development. Such information may also be shared via social media, organizational websites, in printed materials, or via other media.

Any Contributed Content used on the Map may be shared with our affiliates, including Episcopal entities included on the Episcopal Asset Map (dioceses, churches, networks) for their own purposes. These affiliates may also use Contributed Content for their promotional purposes or on their own websites.

If you choose to send an email to Site administrators through the form at the “Contact Us” link, we may use session cookies to ensure you see a message from us that we have received your email. This type of cookie, which stores information that you submit through the form, stores information only for the duration of your visit to the Site, and will be deleted when you close your browser.

We will not otherwise share other information you provide to us with entities that are not directly related to us, nor will we sell or rent any information you provide us.

Protection of Information

We use reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect online. Despite these measures, there is always a risk that this information may be accessed or used by unauthorized third persons. Your use of the Site, including when you and provide us with information, is entirely at your own risk.
