At Christ Church we are Christians first, Anglicans second, and Episcopalians third. We believe in the Cross- Christ crucified and Resurrected, and are also shaped by our Anglican tradition.
Since we are Christians we believe the words of the Nicene Creed. We also believe:
- that the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God.
- that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- in making available to all a personal relationship with Jesus Christ guided by the Holy Spirit.
- in loving God, others and self in a community of fellowship.
- in living life guided by Biblical truth, teaching, study, and prayer.
- that the mission of the Church found in Matthew 28 is to “go and make disciples of nations.”
We believe in permission for all to ask questions: There are many different viewpoints but only one source of all Truth, and that Truth is found in Jesus Christ. We can with confidence and without judgment receive gladly the questions of those on their personal journey of faith. Since “all things came into being through Him” (John 1:3), all answers are eventually found in Him. We invite questions!
We embrace the Anglican tradition of the original Church of England in the via media (“middle way”) and it’s desire to be the church for all people.
Worship times
For those who desire contemplative worship that is more subdued, this service is for you. Scripture passages, one each from the Old and New Testament, are read to the congregation, as well as the Gospel, followed by a sermon and full communion.
If you fancy a musical service that is more expressive and family friendly, then the 10:30 a.m. Rite I communion service is for you. It uses the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, and is filled with wonderful hymns sung by a full choir (see about our choir below). The service concludes with the priest and acolytes recessing to a hymn.
A little about our organ and choir- In 1992 Christ Church added an organ and choir loft and installed the very last “tracker” pipe organ manufactured by M.P. Moller Organ Company of Maryland. It is equipped with a Great Organ, a Swell Organ and a Pedal Organ totaling 1,213 pipe combinations.
Our choir regularly features the best talent available from voice majors at the University, along with lay volunteer singers. It regularly has 20 voices or more, and it is well respected as one of the best church choirs in the state of Texas.

Ministries
Mobile Ministries at Independence Manor
Providing weekend meals to 18 residents of a low-income facility with apartments for handicapped persons. Engage with residents, providing listening and prayer support. We provide fellowship activities with crafts and games, an annual pet vaccination clinic, and assistance with the community gardens at Independence Manor. We can assist with repairs, wheelchair batteries, utilities, etc.
Offer Holy Communion on the second Sunday of every month, followed by a delicious lunch.
Offer Bible Study every Saturday.
Mobile Ministries
Would you like to deliver sack lunches to the homeless in town? How about handing out warm blankets to them in the winter months? These and other ministry efforts are a part of Mobile Ministries, which utilizes our church van to meet the needy where they find themselves. There is much potential for this ministry to grow. Tanzania Water Project
Most rural Africans must walk 1 to 3 miles every day for fresh water. Christ Church has decided to bring fresh water to 100,000 people over the next five years in an ambitious water well drilling project. There will be annual visits to Tanzania, and well drilling progress monitoring from the States on a monthly basis. Would you like to help? Contact G.W.
