Donation Coordination/Distribution

Career Services and Education
Children and Youth Ministries

Kids of La Porte After School (KLAS) at St. John’s is dedicated to giving
underserved children from La Porte Elementary School a safe place to
be once the afternoon bell rings. Currently we have 60 young people
for which we provide a healthy snack, help with their homework, and
then offer an array of activities for them to participate in. We offer
Sign Language, chess club, gardening, music appreciation and art.

Upon reaching Junior High many students return to KLAS as volunteers,
sharing the wisdom and skills they’ve learned. These study and social
skills serve students into high school and beyond. Numerous KLAS
graduates have been awarded scholarships to continue their
education, and others have aKributed their success in the workforce to
the encouragement they received during their time at St. John’s.

Program funding comes from generous individual and corporate
donations, fundraising and grants.
