St. Michael's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Michael's is an older congregation and also an ethnically diverse congregation.  We have some young people and maintain a Sunday school program for both our youth as well as our adults.  There is a nursery for infants to three years of age provided. About half of the members live in La Marque and half in many of the surrounding towns.

Ministries

NAMI

Advocacy

The National Association for Mental Illness meets at St. Michael's for board meetings and we support NAMI financially and through volunteers.

ADA House

Advocacy

ADA House is located in Galveston and is a home for women trying to get sober. We support them financially and provide a freedom celebration and meal for residents and alumni of ADA House around the 4th of July.

La Marque Aid and Guidance

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

La Marque Aid and Guidance is 60 years old and offers food, clothing and financial help to residents of La Marque who qualify.  The resources are very tight and they usually are behind in both meeting the needs of a community where it is estimated that 25% live below the poverty line.  St. Michael's collects clothing food and money to support La Marque Aid and Guidance.  Some of our members sit on the board of La Marque Ad and Guidance.

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

Twice a year St. Michael's hosts a blood drive to benefit the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center.

Seafarers Center of Galveston

Donation Coordination/Distribution

St. Michael's makes up around 50 shoe boxes of small items that are taken to the Seafarers Center and given to those workers on board ship that dock in Galveston around the Christmas season.
