St. Nicholas Episcopal Church

Share a story

We are a theologically progressive community, steeped in the strong traditions of the Christian faith. We celebrate that God is always opening new windows of understanding—new ways of perceiving the presence of God in our world and on our spiritual journeys. We are grounded in scripture, tradition and reason.

We are a prayerful, caring community living out our responsibility and ministry to one another. We also celebrate the wider community outside of our doors and take joy in being the presence of Christ there as well, respecting the dignity of every human being. A dynamic and active Food Shelf, Casa Maria, serves thousands of food insecure people with free food and clothing every Saturday.

We practice what we believe at St. Nicholas, for here we have two distinct, yet yoked communities making up one church.  One of our communities speaks English and the other speaks Spanish. Both our communities strive to build "beloved community everyday! Working daily to grow disciples of Christ, our two communities are growing, reinvigorated and renewed in the scriptures and the Way of Love.

Worship times

Sunday
9:30 am
English
Our worship uses the best of the Episcopal tradition — mostly classic prayers from our Book of Common Prayer (dating back to 1549). We read scripture, hear a sermon or discuss the lessons, often celebrate the Eucharist, sing traditional and contemporary hymns, and put our concerns in God’s hands. Every third Saturday at 5:30 PM we worship with a bilingual service in both Spanish & English, and enjoy a potluck meal afterwards. On those Saturdays, there is no Sunday worship.
Saturday
5:30 am
Spanish
We are a community of faith, where we preserve our Hispanic culture and Spanish language. Our goal is to deepen the relationship with God and strengthen the bonds between us, our families and the Latino community. We extend our welcome to all with the hope that they will join us to participate in the construction of this community of the Lord here on earth. Every third Saturday we celebrate with a bilingual service in both Spanish & English, with a potluck meal afterwards.
