Trinity Episcopal Church

Share a story

We are a welcoming and inclusive Parish in Seymour within the Episcopal Church of Connecticut. As beloved children of God, gathered in community, we are called to LOVE God and our neighbor, to SERVE God and the greater world, and to GIVE from the abundant resources with which we have been blessed.

It is important to support our community. In an effort to do that we have: the Blessing Pantry, a shed in our parking lot that operates as a 24/7 food pantry. The Blessing Pantry Garden on the hill in the field adjacent to our lot and across from the Library. A Trinity Gives program that provides clothing two days a week on the ramp alongside our entrance. Volunteer opportunities

One time opportunities
Ongoing commitment opportunities

We value and appreciate any and all volunteering that people graciously give. We have opportunities that can be one-time (ex. planting in our garden, helping to host a party/dinner) or on-going which would be signing up to serve any of our ministries; Liturgical Assistants, Kids of the Kingdom, Altar Egos, Blessing Pantry, Blessing Pantry Garden, Trinity Gives and Community First dinners.

Creation Care/Community Gardens

The Blessing Pantry Garden was established in 2019 through a joint project between Trinity and the local United Way. It sits at the top of a hill with large stone altar and a beautiful view of sun rises and the center of Seymour. It started with 12 raised beds and a shed. Since then, and through the help of many parishioners, neighbors, a local community farm, Massaro, and local boys and girl scouts, we now have  multiple fruit bushes and trees, a pumpkin patch and other areas to plant. It also has a labyrinth that has been encircled by a butterfly garden. Our neighbors are encouraged to pick, weed and sit a spell. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in the garden as we plant, maintain and clean up each year.

Food Pantries

Jesus fed five thousand people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. During these very trying times, we, the parishioners of Trinity Episcopal Church, wish to be like Jesus and help feed our neighbors in or community. To this end, we have built a free-standing pantry on our property that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for those in need to come and collect food products. We also do bi-weekly giveaway days that include cleaning products, personal hygiene items, and other food items that cannot be left in the pantry.

100% of the money collected goes towards buying food and supplies for giveaways and to stock our pantry. The Blessing Pantry coordinator and all helpers are volunteers.

We are always appreciative of any volunteering support, which could be to go shopping for food, unpacking and organizing the storage area, filling the pantry and/or volunteering at some of our fundraising events.

Trinity Gives

Donation Coordination/Distribution
Clothing Closet

Trinity Gives is a ministry that collects gently used clothing for children, women and men and provides them to the community. Items are rolled outside on clothing racks during our Blessing Pantry Giveaways so that our patrons may enjoy one-stop shopping! Each year in the fall we have a drive of new coats for children to donate to local foster families through the Connecticut Alliance for Foster and Adoptive Families.

Like our other ministries, our Coordinator and helpers are all volunteers and as with the others, there are volunteer opportunities, helping to collect and sort clothing, as well as brining racks out and back in.
