Grace Episcopal Church is a thriving community of faith that seeks to inspire and encourage relationships with God and with one another. We are a welcoming and affirming parish with open minds and hearts. Grace has a long and vibrant history in Burke County. From that historic foundation, Grace has developed many vital ministries which have made our church community a reflection of God’s love for the world. The people of Grace gather to offer our lives to God as followers of Jesus Christ through worship, learning, fellowship, and service.

Backpack program at Grace Church
Our Parish has a Backpack Ministry that serves Hillcrest Elementary
The Backpack Ministry is a very important outreach ministry for our church. The purpose of this ministry is to provide food for children during the weekend. Teachers noticed that the children were not performing as well on Monday as they were during the week when they were receiving a hot breakfast and lunch at the school. In 2010 Grace Episcopal partnered with MountainCrest Elementary School to provide 20 backpacks; each filled with approximately 10 pounds of food on Friday, for the weekend. Since 2012, First Baptist Church has been working with us. Our program has now grown to 100 backpacks every Friday.
This ministry has had a far reaching impact in our community, as we have shared our ideas with other local churches and they have implemented similar programs and adopted other schools.
