St. Matthew's Episcopal Church

Share a story

Located near the intersection of I-26 and US Hwy 29 (WO Ezell Blvd), Saint Matthew's is a center of Episcopal worship and outreach. Sunday services are held at 9am, and 11:15am (except during the months of June, July, and August, when there is one service at 10am). Formation classes are held between morning services. During the week, a Healing Service is held each Wednesday evening at 6:30pm. A chapel service is held for our PreSchool each Wednesday at 9:30am. Saint Matthew's is heavily involved in outreach to the larger community. Each Wednesday our Food Pantry is open from 3-5pm and serves approximately 11,000 people annually. On the first Wednesday of the month we hold a Free Medical Clinic from 6-8pm in partnership with our local medical school and medical center. We also provide space each week for NAMI and NA and monthly for a Survivors of Suicide group. The parish is onvolved in Disaster Relief Mission Trips and long-time support for efforts in Ecuador and Haiti.

FOOD PANTRY

Food Pantries

Our Food Pantry is open each Wednesday from 3-5pm and serves approximately 11,000 people annually. There is no "needs" testing. We serve anyone who comes, believing their willingness to ask is more than enough to provide assistance. Client/Partners are eligible to acess the pantry once a month. They are a assigned a personal shopper who will help them with their choices, but we encourage Client/Partners to make their own choices believing personal dignity is a vital aspect of this ministry. We supplement canned and dry goods with vegetables from our own garden and local farms and with meat products provided by local sources. Prayer requests are taken and offered at the evening Healing Service.

FREE CLINIC

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

Our monthly Free Clinic is supported by physicians and nurses from our parish, Spartanburg Medical Center, and students from our local medical school. We partner with other communuty health organizations to sign up client/partners for other medical services. At appropriate times we offer flu shots and back to school physicals. We are also a site for a mobile clinic from Healthy Smiles, a local dental charity for children 4-18.
