Episcopal Church of the Incarnation

Share a story

We are the body of Christ: young and old, rich and poor,  black and white, conservative and liberal.  We are doctors and carpenters, stay-at-home parents and retirees, teachers and students and those looking for work.  We are cradle Episcopalians, we are former Baptists and Methodists and Catholics, and we are those with no church background at all.   We are seeking to know and love Christ more fully.  We are sinful and we are forgiven.  And we are ready to welcome you into the family of God in this place.

Volunteer opportunities

One time opportunities
Ongoing commitment opportunities

Community Garden
We keep three raised beds full of fresh produce so we can give it away to the needy.

Bread from Heaven
On the third Saturday of each month we shower folks with fresh, nutritious food and with God’s love.  We partner with a variety of other churches, farmers’ markets, and corporations to gather food, some of which we can or freeze to preserve.  Then we distribute it to the needy in Cherokee County in a way that shows our hungry friends the respect and love they deserve.  Find out more about Bread from Heaven here.

Adopt-a-Family
At Christmas we shower our adopted families with Christ’s love in the form of food, toys, and clothing.  You should see
the joy in the faces of parents who know that their children will have a wonderful Christmas after all.

Mission Trips
When a disaster hits, we join with other Episcopal churches in the Piedmont Convocation to help those whose homes and businesses have been destroyed.

First Sunday Breakfast
The men of the church cook breakfast on the first Sunday of each month.  They fix everything from homemade buttermilk waffles to eggs Benedict.  It’s always a feast!   And men are always welcome to help cook, set up, and clean up.

Coffee Hour
Each Sunday a volunteer provides snacks and makes coffee which we enjoy as we chat together after each service.

Easter Brunch
We celebrate the Resurrection with a covered dish meal together after the service.  The little ones hunt for Easter eggs while the adults enjoy the day.

Advent and Lenten Suppers
We begin our Wednesday evening Advent and Lenten programs with a simple supper of soup, salad, and bread.  Volunteers provide the food, which is always delicious!

Oyster Roasts
Incarnation is famous for our oyster roasts.  The men steam oysters, boil shrimp, fry fresh-caught fish, and prepare all the fixins for the feast.  People come from all over to join us as we celebrate Mardi Gras on the last Saturday before Lent begins.

Supper Clubs
We love to eat together, and supper clubs give us a chance to gather in smaller groups for meals.  We meet once a month or so in one another’s homes to talk and laugh and have a wonderful meal.
