Food Bags
A constant supply of food bags filled with non-perishable items is available to be given out to people who come by our church and express a need for such items. The food items are donated by a St. Markan and are packed and prepared by EYC young people.
Friday Breakfast
This St. Mark’s ministry serves those in need. Our church members cook and serve breakfast on the first, third and fifth (when necessary) Fridays of the month, and our facilities are used by other community organization to do the same on second and fourth Fridays
Youth Missions Trips
As part of the missionary outreach of Saint Mark’s, our EYC youth leader coordinates summer missionary trips to regions within the United States. Focus is given to regions of the country in need of basic resources for daily living, as well as areas in need of pastoral care and guidance. In July of 2011, 25 youth and adults traveled with several other churches from the Diocese of Texas to Copperhill, TN. The 2011 Missionpalooza mission trip accomplished construction, cleaning and painting projects for the needy, worked on an environmental project in the Cherokee National Forest, and assisted persons with special needs in the Industrial Opportunities Factory to manufacture goods for the armed forces of our country.
Our EYC Missionpalooza teams also traveled in the years 2006, 2007 & 2008 to Bay St. Louis, MS. to help those devastated after Hurricane Katrina. We traveled to Beaumont in 2010 to help with rebuilding projects after Hurricane Ike.
In the summers of 2012 and 2013, in conjunction with 11 other churches from our diocese, the Missionpalooza mission group will travel to Bastrop, Texas to help with cleaning, debris removal, construction projects and reforesting after the great wildfires of 2011. We hope also to put together backpacks filled with school supplies for needy elementary school children in the Bastrop area.
In addition to our service and volunteer work, we will participate in daily devotionals, along with evening programs, which will include worship and music.
