Crop Walk

Donation Coordination/Distribution

2014 will be the first year St. Andrew's will be participating in the CROP Walk to End Hunger. CROP Walk is an annual initiative sponsored by Church Word Services (CWS) geared toward ending local and global hunger. We will be participating by having people participate in the 5K and Golden Mile events as well as having volunteers help at the event. For more information on CROP Walk, visit their site by clicking their logo to the left. If you would like more information on joining St. Andrew's team for the event, contact Debbie at txdigger@msn.com.

BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK

Donation Coordination/Distribution

This is St. Andrew's 3rd year of providing backpacks of food for children in need. $90 supplies one child with a backpack of food each weekend for the entire school year. We collect money each August and in 2013 were able to supply 80 backpacks for students of Lawhon Elementary. If you are interested in supporting this ministry, regardless of the time of year, contact Debbie at txdigger@msn.com for more information.

PINK THE PATCH (BREAST CANCER FUNDRAISER & HEALING SERVICE)

Donation Coordination/Distribution
Faith Formation

Each year, we turn our Pumpkin Patch pink for one day to honor those who are battling or who have battled breast cancer and for those who love them. In 2013, we added a Healing Service to this event and it was such a powerful experience that we have decided to make the Healing Service a permanent addition to Pink the Patch.

TRICK OR TREAT IN THE PATCH

Arts & Culture
Children and Youth Ministries

Our Pumpkin Patch is fun destination for our community throughout the month of October but the highlight is when we get a chance to give back to the community through a free night of Trick-or-Treat in the Patch. Hundreds of children and their families join us for trick-or-treating, games, stories, crafts, and a cookie decorating.

CHRISTMAS WITH REVEILLE HEAD START

Donation Coordination/Distribution

Each Christmas, we offer people the chance to choose a child from Reveille Head Start and give them the gift of clothing, shoes, and a toy. The gifts are all brought to Head Start and the children get a chance to have a party and meet with a special visitor. The children all love the event and their smiles are contagious!

THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING (CHLB)

Advocacy

This event is one of our most powerful every year. One Sunday, we leave our building and serve others throughout our community. This is a chance to give back, feel what it is like to share God's love with others and to be the face of Christ in the community.

PARTNERSHIP WITH E.A. LAWHON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Children and Youth Ministries

We have a very special relationship with Lawhon Elementary School. This Title 1 school has an amazing group of staff and teachers and wonderful children that we enjoy working with every year. St. Andrew's provides backpacks of food for 80 students each week, brings the Pumpkin Patch to Lawhon for all Pre-K and Kindergarten students, collects school supplies and clothing, and does work projects to help beautify the campus.
