On Christmas Eve 1838 Father Caleb Ives celebrated The Holy Eucharist in the Masonic Lodge at Matagorda. Establishing the first Episcopal Congregation in The Republic of Texas. Christ Episcopal Church is alive and living the Gospel to this day!
