Founded 1958

Our Mission

We worship and glorify God, recognizing that each person has God within.  We provide an environment to sustain and nurture spiritual growth within the church and community through serving Jesus Christ.  We seek to extend the word and promise of Christ to those both far and near.

Welcome to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, the “Beacon on the Bay”

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church has served Our Lord Jesus Christ for over 55 years in South St. Petersburg.  As in most churches there have been many changes over the years.  The congregation has gown and changed.  One thing has not changed, however, and that is our dedication to Jesus and our desire to be a beacon of the Christian Faith in our community.  We worship in the Episcopal tradition, with wonderful liturgy and beautiful music, all for the purpose of ministering to those who wish to know and follow Christ and become his disciples.  Only God knows what our next 50 years will bring, but we know that we will be blessed if we focus on our goal of helping to reconcile all people to God and with each other through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Join us on our journey into the future.

Our Thrift Store is open the 1st Saturday on the month.
