St. James Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. James' was founded in 1875 as the first Protestant Church in the Mesilla Valley.  St. James' has a nine member Vestry that oversees the business and physical well being of the church.  The clergy of St. James' provide leadership and support to the congregation through preaching the Word of God and providing the Sacraments essential to our faith.  We are a socioeconomically diverse congregation grounded on Biblical teachings.  As a member of the world-wide Anglican communion, we seek to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, fellowship, and service to others.  The Episcopal Chruch was founded on the belief that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that Jesus provides the way of eternal life for those who believe in Him.  For those who are unfamiliar with the Episcopal Church, we follow the via media or "middle way" between Protestant and Roman Catholic doctrine and practices.  We recognize that not all newcomes to our church are familiar with our liturgy.  Please feel free to ask any member for assistance as desired to aid your participation in our worship service.  As our guest, you are very important to the life and growth of St. James'.
