Our mission statement:
"To worship God, revealed to us as Creator, as Jesus the Christ, and as the Holy Spirit, and experience God's presence within the church family, nurturing each other through a comprehensive parish program while affirming each other's individual ministries and responding to Jesus' continuing call to minister to others."
We, the people of Holy Comforter, though very diverse politically and socially, care for each other and care deeply for how our faith is manifested in the community. We believe all people are equal in God's hand. Our nurturing congregation has an appreciation for diverse perspectives and opinions. We grow through a continually evolving and questioning discussion regarding our faith, God, and society. We welcome all, without reservation, into our Christian body to be part of a loving and sharing family.

Ministries
Newlin Partnership
The Newlin School Partnership is a unique and treasured outreach ministry of the Church of the Holy Comforter. The mission of the Newlin School Partnership is to engage the entire parish in a ministry to people who live in our "neighborhood", emphasizing the improvement of academic outcomes for children enrolled in the Harvey B. Newlin Elementary school. The Partnership provides tutors trained by the Augustine Literacy Project for free, one-on-one pupil instruction. The Partnership is also committed to providing support to teachers and staff at Newlin Elementary that will enhance the school environment and student success. We also focus resources on children impaired by poverty through volunteer efforts, various scholarships, alleviation of hunger, parent involvement, community networking and any other strategy that may help children be successful in school.
HC Bi-lingual Playschool
On Sept. 1, 2015, the first and only bilingual Playschool in Alamance County opened its doors to children from the ages of three and five. We all know that keeping small children engaged and productive is quite a challenge. Committed to the success-based "learning through play" approach, a unique curriculum has been developed which will have a strong focus on social-emotional skill for school success, creative exploration, active play including basic yoga for children, and healthy eating. Our language teaching approach should be considered dual-language immersion. Our school has begun a small garden, planted by children. It helps children to learn where our food comes
Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles
Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.
Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
