If you're looking for a church home where you can experience God in worship, make new friends, and help the community, watch us on Facebook to see what we're about, come for Sunday worship, or attend one of our programs. Taking the first step is hard, but we promise - you are welcome, whether you are new to faith or have been in church all your life, full of doubt or firm in your faith, young or old, rich or poor, LGBTQ or straight, trans or cis, full of joy or consumed by sorrow. Whoever you are and wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.
We strive to be welcoming in real, tangible ways. You'll see a wide variety of people leading worship and participating in leadership. We don't use incense and our candles are oil-filled, which produces less smoke, to help those with breathing issues. Our building is completely wheelchair accessible. All of our restrooms are gender inclusive. We have a kids play area in the back and we truly do not mind hearing young voices during worship. Kids are also welcome to attend Sunday School from September through May.

Volunteer opportunities
We serve a community meal on the 4th Saturday of each month. Individual volunteers and groups are welcome to come and help prepare and serve the meal. You can sign up here
Ministries
St. Stephen's 24/7 Blessings Box
We have a large Blessings Box that provides food to the community 24/7. People can donate what they have or take what they need. We fill the box at least once a day, seven days a week. Nonperishable items are preferred, but perishable items (fruit and vegetables, mainly) can be placed under the box
Fourth Saturday Community Meal
On the fourth Saturday of each month, we prepare and serve a hot meal and a bag lunch for our guests. We partner with Jay Ray's BBQ and Catering (Downriver's #1 Caterer!) to provide delicious, high quality meal
Sunday School
We have Sunday school from mid September through early June during the 10 am worship. Kids rotate through chapel (in our historic Children's Chapel), a video lesson, and hands on activities and games. We focus on learning Bible stories, connecting with God and each other, and having fun!
Adult Bible Study
At about 11:30 am on Second and Fourth Sundays, we gather to read, discuss, and share our faith. For the 2026-2027 year, we will be studying the Book of Revelation
Special Collections for Episcopal Relief & Development, World Central Kitchen, Gleaners, Local Elementary Schools, Mariners Inn, and More
The Gathering
This is a group for younger queer people and allies. We meet on the Second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. A light meal is provided. Come for discussion, support, and prayer
Grief and Loss Group
This group meets on the Fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. People who have experienced a loss can come and share their experience with others who understand.
