Ministries
Outreach Ministry
Outreach Ministry serves the community at large. The committee supports a variety of community activities with our time and treasure. We serve four meals a year at the Ronald Mcdonald House. We participate in and financially support the HEB ISD/6stones Operation Back 2 School event. We support Community Providers with individual gifts at Christmas and gifts for the residents at a local nursing home at Easter. We financially support the Birdville ISD Caring Soles Annual Shoe Campaign. We donate canned tuna to the Aids Outreach Center on a monthly basis. We donate food, clothing and small appliances to the I Can Still Shine program, and food and other consumables to N.E.E.D.S., a local emergency food pantry. We participate in and donate to the North Texas Buddy Walk for children with Downs Syndrome.
Women's Study Group
Women's Study Group is for women who want to read and discuss meaningful books for spiritual nourishment. They meet twice a month.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started at St. Stephen's as a giving outlet for people who knit or crochet, based on the ministry started in 1998 by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo (www.shawlministry.com). It is a ministry for both the provider and the recipient. Members get together twice a month to knit and pray together as the shawls are individually knitted for people in need of comfort or as or as a symbol of joy (marriage, birth, etc.). Often we know for whom we are providing shawls. But we also intend to provide a stockpile of shawls and lap robes as our ministry grows.
Ultreya
Ultrea is a prayer group for people who have been to Cursillo. Its weekly focus is on piety, study and action.
Prayer Partners
Prayer Partners is a paring of people who will pray specifically for the needs of the other person in that pairing. Prayer Partners are changed every six months.
Caring Committee
The Caring Committee is responsible for organizing food and/or other needs of parish members during family emergencies, illness or death.
Card Ministry
The Card Ministry makes and sends greeting cards to members of the parish on the occasions of their birthday, anniversary, illness, and on the death of family members. They also remember shut-ins with "thinking of you" cards.
