Episcopal Church of the Holy Family

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Family is an open and accepting church. We embrace everyone who wishes to join us on the journey of faith.

We have a unique worship space patterned after the Cherokee Indian longhouse.  The focal point of our church is the Altar Table.  Holy Eucharist (the Holy Communion to some, Mass to others) is at the center of most our worship services.  Receiving communion is open to all.

When the service starts we hope you enjoy the organ music, the dignity of the entering procession, the beauty of the vestments and the solemnity of the ministers.  Our worship emphasizes entering into the mystery and love of God.

Our ancient roots of the ceremony, the music, vestments and our architecture are ways living into that Mystery through our senses.  God created us as physical beings and so the Church has always believed that God can encounter us in and through physical beauty.

But all that ancient tradition is only part of the story.  As Episcopalians we hold that faith is not “believing the unbelievable”.  Faith has to do with trusting relationships - trusting each other and trusting God.  We are, all of us, seekers who are trying to make sense of life.  Everyone has his or her own experiences and her or his own ideas about life, death and human destiny.  Each of us is in our own place on our pilgrimage into the fullness of God.  As Episcopalians, we have found that the Church can and should be a “safe” place to learn, share and explore faith.  As we journey in life we can learn from one another and learn to love one another along the way.  You will probably find this theme in our sermons, in our educational programs, in our conversations and in our attempts to reach out in love to our community.

A great theologian of the 11th century, Anselm of Canterbury explained it as: “Faith seeking understanding”.  We would love to have you join us as seekers on the Way.
