Welcoming immigrants in western Texas

Place

The Diocese of West Texas is located along the southernmost border of the United States with Mexico. This region serves as the largest travel gateway for people seeking asylum who travel through Mexico to the United States. Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting the diocese to expand its respite center in San Antonio to serve over 5,000 migrants. In the respite center, diocesan congregations, interfaith partners, local and federal government agencies work together to provide meals, clothing, personal protective equipment, COVID-19 education, internet services, shower facilities and facilitate travel for people from across the world who have traveled to the US to seek asylum.
