Helping evacuees from Kentucky after flooding
Devastating floods occurred in eastern Kentucky and southwestern Virginia creating a need for refuge for flood evacuees within the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. Episcopal Relief & Development partnered with the diocese to support two of the local homeless shelters that housed displaced people and to provide food, essential clothing items and hygienic items.
All Saints parish worked through a network of individuals within the Norton community to facilitate and identify the greatest needs of people displaced by the flooding. They sent volunteers and coordinated the processing and distribution of resources to affected people. All Saints used its parish hall for coordination, storage and distribution to critical areas.
