St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Paul's Vergennes is a small, dynamic parish in the heart of the Little City of Vergennes. Built in 1834, our church building is Gothic Revival-style with a brick body and a white-washed clapboard steeple. This building has served as a place of worship for generations of Addison County families. Today, St. Paul's members are community leaders: parents with middle- and high-school aged kids, active and retired educators, a banker, business owners, engineers, and more. As is our Episcopal tradition, St. Paul's Vergennes is welcoming and inclusive.

Racial Healing and Anti-racism book group

Racial Reconciliation

The Healing and Anti-racism book group at St. Paul’s began during the pandemic, meeting for the first time in July 2020. We have met regularly since then on a monthly basis. We meet the 4th Wednesday of the month, via zoom at 7pm. All are welcome to join in any month whether or not they have read the book for that month.

Pastoral care team

Aging, Health and Wellbeing

The pastoral care team led by Deacon Lucy Pellegrini provides visits, meals, occasional rides to local doctor’s appointments. Team members were trained by a parishioner who is a hospice nurse and two others who have been social workers. Lucy offered sessions on Advance Directives open to the parish, and the team has participated in the Caregivers’ Group that offers parishioners an opportunity to discuss the challenges, past and present, that are faced with caregiving support. This group meets every two months and welcomes everyone.

Lunch-hour public concerts

Arts & Culture

St. Paul's weekday lunch-time concerts give community members time to enjoy live local musicians once a month. They enjoyed Celtic harp on St. Patrick's Day, organ works by African American women composers on Juneteenth, and the Addison Quartet playing Dvořák and David Bowie.
