Canterbury-on-the-Lake is fundamentaly an extended family, continuing the tradition of St. Luke's Episcopal Church Home. A ministry of compassion, an invitation to value, and to revere one another in an atmosphere of architechual and natural beauty. It is the commitment of Canterbury-on-the-Lake to extend this policy of St. Luke's by preserving an evriroment that nurtures the human spirit, where individues can achive or affirm independence, uniqueness, and personal integrity that respects their diversity and well-being.

Caterbury-on-the-Lake has a 150 year history of providing care to seniors statig in Detroit and later moving to Highland Park. in 1990 they purchased the Windeler Horse farm and broke ground and began building the current location on Hatchery Road in the heart of Waterford. We opened our doors in 1994 to residents, Jane Windeler Lawrence herself enjoyed being a resident here until her death in 2013. Today, residents enjoy the natual land, which we have kept in it's original state in order to preserve the wetlands. Many staff and even some of our residents have been with us sice our 1994 opening.

The church services include but are not limted to, a Catholic mass on monday's at 1:30pm, the main service of the week is a non-denominational service which follows the Episcopal service but also includes music from other denominations that are familiar to those who attend at 2pm on Sundays.
