St. Paul's Church

Share a story

St.Paul's is the third oldest Episcopal church in Suffolk county. The original church building was located on West Main st. and built in 1843.We were incorporated that year, and our first rector was V.M. Daniel Johnson.

We were admitted to the diocese in 1868, and we relocated to our present site at 31 Rider Ave, Patchogue in 1883 on property donated by Ed Edwards, the senior warden, in honor of his wife Rebecca. The parish hall and rectory were built in 1895, also by Mr.Edwards,as a memorial to his son Edward. In 1961, under the Rev. Richard Chapin, our education wing was added and the parish school was established which served the area for many years.
