New American Pathways is a local affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries, the refugee resettlement service of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of The Episcopal Church. Located in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, New American Pathways provides a safe haven for refugees resettled in Atlanta, caring for their most vital needs and providing the training and skills they require to thrive in years to come. Through partnerships and collaboration with the community, including Episcopal churches, New American Pathways has served as a model of successful resettlement and integration.
New American Pathways’ vision is to promote safety, stability, success, and service for individual refugees and refugee families in Georgia. They offer five distinct program areas that focus on jobs, education, cultural integration, individual and female empowerment, and building strong families. All of these programs are enhanced through the service of a 15-member AmeriCorps team and dozens of volunteers.
Their unique continuum of services results in better outcomes for refugees of all ages and at all stages of self-sufficiency, and ensures that these new Americans develop and contribute their special skills and talents to strengthening the American workforce and helping Georgia thrive.
Volunteer opportunities
New American Pathways works in partnership with community partners, congregations and other volunteers to carry out its work welcoming refugees to Georgia. Opportunities abound for you and your congregation to make a positive impact on the life of a family and on your wider community. There are ongoing and one-time service projects ranging from donation drives to helping new Americans “shop” in the on-site clothing closet, to mentoring refugee children in afterschool, practicing English skills with parents, accompanying a family on their first trip to an American grocery store or teaching them how to use public transportation, even registering new citizens to vote – there is something for everyone.
