Shelter and Housing

Currently, our parish is actively engaged in assisting Emmaus House and Mitch's Place in Haverhill, both of which serve homeless persons and families. All Saints has served a generous and healthy dinner to approximately 30 men and women of varying ages at Mitch?s Place every third Sunday of each month. Various parishioners take turns cooking and serving.

At Christmas, the parish collects specific gift requests from the children of Emmaus House and fulfills those requests, adding many gifts of mittens and hats which are collected on a Christmas tree placed in the church. At Easter, the parish collects and makes Easter baskets for the children of Emmaus House. At the beginning of each school year, backpacks and school supplies are collected and donated as well. 40+ homeless children have been the happy recipients of these gifts.

Shelter for Individuals

Mitch's Place offers temporary overnight shelter to homeless individuals year-round. Guests receive a bed, meals, and staff support to secure needed health and social services. Mitch?s Place was first organized in 1987 as a winter (six month) program to accommodate the addicted population as well as those in psychiatric distress. Today, Mitch?s Place is a 30-bed, year-round emergency overnight shelter for single men and women. In the winter months, the shelter offers life-saving support for up to 45 individuals.
