St. Laurence Chapel welcomes and relies on volunteers. St. Laurence Chapel was established in 1988, with support from the Diocese of Southeast Florida, as Episcopal Mental Health Ministries, a program to provide services for the mentally ill homeless in northern Broward County. Now in its third location in Pompano Beach, this ministry provides its clients with transportation, breakfast, lunch, case management, nursing care, showers, clean clothing, storage, telephones, mailing address, emergency food, hygiene kits, and a daily chapel service (for those who wish to participate). Services are led by area Episcopal clergy and lay leaders. St. Laurence Chapel serves 60 – 70 homeless individuals each day.
