church of the Redeemer

Share a story

The Church of the Redeemer was founded in 1866, is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island, shortly after the draft riots in New York City.

Our masses are in Spanish and English. Daily community run programs from September to May, which is free and open to all. Redeemer offers meeting rooms for 12-step meetings throughout the year. The Church and the garden are open to all most of the day.

Here the children are not a problem, but you are always welcome at Mass and participate in it. During the last four years we have been running a religious education program for children called “Godly Play,” based on Montessori principles. We believe that children have an awareness fresher and more intimate of the Divine, and there is much to learn from them.
