Grace Episcopal Church is a family of believers who make our home in the heart of                                   Hutchinson, KS.  We are an Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Western Kansas that has                         been worshiping together since 1879. Together we worship, we serve others, we grow in                            faith and love of Christ, and we strengthen and  support one another through all of life's ups and downs. At Grace we are a diverse community who share a deep love for the richness and history of our liturgy, coupled with a desire to remain connected to a  modern and constantly-changing world. We welcome all who enter our doors. Wherever you  come from, whatever your age, whomever you love, however you believe, you are always welcome here.

Ministries

Community Clothes Closet

Donation Coordination/Distribution

The Clothes Closet is open to the community the first and third Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 pm (excluding some holidays). We are located in the basement, just to the right at the bottom of the stairs. All our clothing is free to those in need, including baby diapers.
The Clothes Closet greatly depends on volunteers to supervise during open hours.   Occasional help in picking-up or transporting donations, and for sorting and stocking is also appreciated. Please consider donating a couple of hours per week of your time to this important outreach. You can call the church office for more information or any questions.

Food Pantry

Food Pantries
hunger

Our Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm. Our patrons can pick up one bag of groceries per month.

More than four years ago, Grace Church decided to embark on a food pantry ministry. The purpose of the ministry was to provide limited food assistance to needy members of the Hutchinson community. Initially, funding for this ministry came from the rector’s discretionary fund, individual cash and food donations and the outreach budget. But before long, demands for food exceeded available funding and donations and it was realized that if this ministry was to continue a substantial and consistent source of funding would need to be created.

The Food Pantry Ministry is funded by individual donations. The fund has now dwindled. While many donations from the congregation continue to help us continue this ministry, additional donations are always needed. At this time, we spend around $400 a month for food purchases.

Some may question the needs and/or the motives of the clients we serve. It is all too easy for us to judge these individuals without truly understanding the difficulties they are facing and realizing their immediate needs. But unless we have experienced a similar situation, we cannot understand.

At Grace, we believe that this ministry not so much as a hand out as a hand up. Jesus told us that as his followers it is our responsibility to help feed the hungry. In order that this food ministry can continue, please consider being a regular contributor to this ministry. Contact the church office to learn more about how you can help.
