Monett, MO is a town of over 8,000 people and was established as a railroad town in the 1800's. There are about 2,200 students in the Monett R-1 school district, on six campuses, with some 40 per-cent of students other than Caucasian. 40% of students are on free/reduced breakfast and lunch with week-end food backpacks sent home with 25% of the students. Monett has several industries, a healthy downtown, over 40 churches, a couple of highway strip malls, four banks, Wal-Mart, Lowes, several fast food eateries, Drury College campus, night classes offered at Scott Tech as well as 14 other sending schools coming to Scott Tech for high school classes. There are several small businesses, a nice library, and three parochial schools serving about 175 students, pre-k through high school. There are three licensed day care centers (one on the Elementary School for school employees) plus several in home day care providers. We have two lovely parks with ball fields and tennis courts, a state of the art YMCA with indoor and outdoor pools, and a busy Chamber of Commerce. It's a great place to live and work!
