Church of the Advent

Share a story

Located in south Nashville, Church of the Advent includes congregants from Nashville and Davidson County as well as from Brentwood and Williamson County.  The move to this property in 1973 was the third move in the church's history, each time being a response to the growth of Nashville and our congregation.  Founded in 1857 we take pride in our deep history in the Episcopal church; but, our worship style is best described as middle-of-the-road.  Offerings include Rite I and Rite II services as well as periodic Morning Prayer, high church, and healing services.  We are involved in numerous outreach activities as a church and as individuals--everything from St. Luke's Community House and Room in the Inn to Second Harvest Food Bank collections and worshiping with residents at The Fountains, a retirement community in Franklin.

ROOM IN THE INN

Shelter and Housing

Church of the Advent has a long history of support for Room in the Inn, a program for area homeless in which churches provide shelter and meals one night a month during the winter.  Many of our parishioners take part in this program every year providing meals, setting up, spending the night, and offering fellowship to our homeless guests.
