Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Honeoye Falls, NY is an open, welcoming congregation of all ages, worshiping Christ and living out the Gospel in our local community. At St. John’s, EVERYONE is welcome at the Lord’s Table. We are a Believe Out Loud congregation, which means that we not only welcome, but we affirm all sexual orientations and gender identities. Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, know that St. John’s is a safe and caring place. This is our prayer for our life together:
All-knowing God, we pray that the doors of St. John’s Church, Honeoye Falls, are an open gate to your eternal kingdom. With open hearts and open minds we pray also that all we do and say is done and said to your honor and glory. Hear our prayer, Lord; in you we are not alone.
Worship times
We have a very strong music program, which includes congregational singing, a volunteer choir, and gifted musicians throughout the parish who share their talents with us. It is common to hear more than one instrument in a service, such as organ, piano, electric keyboard, horns, recorder, and/or guitar. Our primary instrument is a historically important Hook and Hastings organ that is played from the front of the nave.
Volunteer opportunities
We are always looking for folks to help with our various ministries and programs, as well as occasional help with one-time events. Examples include: Buildings and Grounds Committee, Parish fundraisers, altar servers, and Altar Guild.
Ministries
St. John's Sunday School
During Sunday School we focus on three main areas:
- Understanding elements of the Episcopal Prayer Book and liturgy
- Learning about Christian saints and the concept of saintly people in other religions
- Sharing God's love through service to the community
Church School meets Sundays at 11:30 a.m.
Honeoye Falls Ecumenical Vacation Bible Camp
Summer program for children in grades K-5.
Helping Our Neighbors
St. John's participates in many outreach ministries, and has been fortunate to mobilize efforts as interest and/or need arose. We collect food and hygiene products year-round for FISH, The Catholic Family Resource Center, and SWEM Food Cupboard. We have held several additional collections of clothes, housewares and toiletries for organizations such as the Willow Domestic Violence Center and A Meal and More Soup Kitchen, as well as families and refugees in need.
Adult Education and Formation
The journey of Christian discipleship involves life-long curiosity and exploration. St. John's provides a number of educational programs throughout the year to the parish and the larger community. Examples of programs include Bible Study, Book Group, and workshops on topics such as end-of-life planning and spiritual renewal.
