Galloway Memorial Episcopal Church

Share a story

Galloway Memorial Episcopal Church (GMEC) began as Galloway Memorial Chapel, built in memory of Alexander Broadnax Galloway by his wife, Laura Foard Galloway, in 1898. The Nave at GMEC is the oldest church building in Elkin in continuous use.

Today, we are a vibrant, warm, and inclusive congregation in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition. As a community of disciples, we seek to follow Jesus into loving, liberating and life-changing relationship with God, with each other and with the whole of creation. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here!

In the spirit of Micah 6:8, the following mission statement grounds us as a community in the way of Jesus:

Do Justice. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly With God.
