St. Michael's Episcopal Church

Come as you are, feel welcome, and stay

Since its founding in 1947, St. Michael’s local reputation is that we are a friendly church:

~ I feel so welcome
~ There is a special feeling in this church

~ I immediately felt at home
~ Everyone has been so gracious

Comments like these have been made consistently by visitors and new members throughout our history.  This is not surprising since assuring the spiritual and physical comfort of all who come through our doors is a deeply held value of our parish family.

Whether you are seeking solace or answers, a worship home, opportunities to love and serve, you are invited and welcome here.

Donation Coordination/Distribution
Food Pantries
Shelter and Housing

St. Michael’s, since its founding, has supported numerous ministries across the metropolitan area.  Outreach helps us deepen our relationship with God, and helps us remember to listen for what God is calling our community to do in the world with others and for each other.

Spiritual Pathways

Faith Formation

Spiritual Pathways sponsors learning and enrichment opportunities such as book groups, topical study/discussion groups, Bible study, prayer and labyrinth walks. This ministry also sponsors joy-filled annual events:  All Saints Celebration, Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras and Pancake Supper, St. Patrick’s Corned Beast Feast, Pentecost Potluck and outdoor summer services. Members of this ministry team are both lay persons and clergy.

The Little Thrift Shop

Donation Coordination/Distribution

The Little Thrift Shop at St. Michael’s is a consignment shop that has been serving our parish and the larger Detroit community for 60 years. Customers become friends, and we invite those who “shop the Shop” to consider attending St. Michael’s on Sundays. Sales from the shop generate financial support for many outreach projects and service organizations.

Prayer Works!

Faith Formation

Members of Prayer Works! meet weekly to pray for members of our community and the wider world. They maintain contact with the sick and homebound through cards, phone calls and visits.
