St. Paul's by-the-Sea Episcopal

Share a story

Welcome to St. Paul’s by-the-Sea, a vibrant church community in the historic resort town of Ocean City, Maryland. Our formal mission statement commits us to “Love God, Serve the World”  Here are some of the main ways we feed others:

Body: The NOEL Community, Men’s and Parish Breakfasts, Shepherd’s Crook, and various social gatherings throughout the year.

Soul: The various programs offered by our ministry.

Spirit: Worship from the breadth of the Anglican tradition, a variety of Christian formation offerings and individual pastoral care.

Located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, St. Paul’s by-the-Sea has been ministering to Ocean City residents and visitors for over a century. The parish was founded in 1878 as a summer mission of St. Paul’s in Berlin, Maryland. We invite you to join us in both our formal and informal missions by learning more about them throughout our website.

Every church says that it’s Family Friendly but at Saint Paul’s by-the-Sea we really mean it. We understand that children need to move around and that’s okay with us. In fact children are always welcome in worship they are encouraged to participate as they are able. When we return to our sanctuary, there is a play area with soft toys near the baptismal font.

Labyrinth Walk

Faith Formation

One of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea’s most noted features is a faux cobblestone labyrinth painted on the floor of Dewees fellowship hall known as The Boardwalk Labyrinth or The Labyrinth of St. Paul’s by-the-Sea. Labyrinths are an ancient spiritual tool for reflection and prayer. Ours is open to walk any time the church is open and by candlelight every Wednesday evening July through September, 7-9 p.m. Please click on the website calendar, located in the header banner of the main menu page, to determine dates and times. Special labyrinth walks are held throughout the year and by request. Please call the church for details (410-289-3453).
