St. Aidan's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Aidan's Episcopal Church is a parish of 700+ members and friends located in Milton, GA and serving the surrounding communities.  It was founded on Easter Sunday, 3 April 1994 as an aided parish of the diocese of Atlanta and a sister parish of St. David's in Roswell.  Regular worship began in rented space that June, and St. Aidan's was recognized as a full parish at diocesan council in November.

The current 19-acre site at 13560 Cogburn Road was purchased soon after, a 400-seat church built, and worship begun there on Palm Sunday 1997.  The site was formerly a farm, and the original cottage that was at the entrance to the property still stands and is used for youth meetings as well as other activities.  The large field, which provides space for possible future expansion, is used for church events as well.  Offices are located in the side hallway of the main sanctuary building, which is connected via a covered walkway to the parish hall (called Burtenshaw Hall after the first rector of the parish). A full kitchen and the main meeting/eating space are located upstairs; the church library, Sunday School Rooms, and attached preschool are located downstairs. St. Aidan's church grounds also include a butterfly garden at the cottage, a memorial garden and prayer labyrinth, and a meditation trail in the woods behind the church that adjoins Alpharetta North Park.

Our mission as a parish is "To Know Jesus Christ and to Make Him Known."  We are growing in the love of God and fellowship with the body of Christ, and we are looking forward to increased engagement with the diocesan community.

Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles

Racial Reconciliation

Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
