The Historic Calvary Episcopal Church

Founded in 1847, Calvary Episcopal Church is a dynamic church built on the “sure foundation” of Jesus Christ our Lord, and we welcome you to "Come and See." Join us each Sunday at 10:30 am for our joyful and dignified service of worship, led by our Rector, the Reverend Ricardo Bailey. We also offer a livestream of our service on Zoom. Please contact the church office for the login information. Our worship at Calvary is reverent and joyous--an intentional combination of the beloved hymns of the Episcopal tradition and the uplifting energy of African-American hymnody.

At Calvary - EVERY liturgical season is celebrated with solemnity and Gospel-inspired purpose. The People of God set the pace of the celebration and as we pray, sway & move with Jesus - we are asking the Lord to touch all of our lives with His blessings so that WE CAN BE A BLESSING to the world!  The Blessed Eucharist is the source and summit of our celebration!  We are nourished through the opening of God's Word through Sacred Scripture, inspired prayer and purposeful preaching.  Our choir members have decades of experience singing in African American Episcopal churches throughout the East Coast. Their service & leadership is strong and sure and the solos can take your breath away.  We sing from The Hymnal of the Episcopal Church as well as from the "Lift Every Voice & Sing" Hymnal to sustain and enhance our worship experiences.  

We are in the heart of Downtown Charleston and is located in the midst of the popular resturant corridor of the city.  Please feel free to come and join us in our worship of the Risen Jesus and we pray that you will be inspired, enriched and equipped to share the liberating love of Jesus to the world!  Buses, vans, cars and walk-ins are welcome!!!!
