St. John's Cathedral

Share a story

Saint John’s Cathedral is a progressive Christian community in the Anglican tradition located on Capitol Hill in downtown Denver. Our mission is "to know Christ and to make Christ known" in worship, community, and service. We welcome all into a deeper spirituality and and deeper relationship with God in our rich Anglican tradition of worship, inquiry, and meaningful service. Following the ancient custom of cathedrals, Saint John’s strives to provide leadership and resources to our city and to the wider Church. Our foundation is the Christian faith as the Episcopal Church has received it, and we live in the creative life built on the relationship between the Scriptures, tradition, and reason. We are an energetic congregation made up of members of all ages. We hail from many different backgrounds and strive to be an inclusive parish centered on a common faith. In addition to offering a strong Sunday program of worship and formation, our community gathers on Wednesday evenings for Cathedral Nite for a sung Eucharist, dinner, and formation groups. We close with Compline and Benediction by candlelight.

The Saint John’s hunger-relief ministry comprises a dozen parishioner-volunteers who work collaboratively across a range of growing-and-sharing gardens. Volunteers deliver about a thousand pounds of fresh produce each year to community partner Metro Caring, which offers supportive services, promotes self-sufficiency, and offers exit from poverty and hunger.
