"July 26, 1891 at 10:30 a.m., the bell of the Protestant Episcopal Church was rung for the first time, to inform the people of Princeton and elsewhere that the Church of the Heavenly Rest was completed and to extend to all people an invitation to come and worship with the congregation of said church. At 11:00 the services commenced by the Rt. Rev. Geo. W. Peterkin, Bishop of the Diocese of West Virginia, assisted by the Rev. Wm. Hullihen Burkhardt, Rector of the Mission.  . . .  The church was consecrated at morning prayer on August 16, 1896 . . . ."
