We invite you to come and worship with us and participate in some of our educational programs.

It’s an exciting time at Holy Comforter. There are plenty of opportunities to join us in a mutual ministry of love, justice, renewal and transformation. Holy Comforter has a rich history having been established in 1900 as the Chapel of the Holy Comforter, Rock Creek Parish. Our Afro-Anglican parish welcomes everyone and brings together a faithful membership largely of people imbued with Ebony Grace descended from the Caribbean, Africa, and the United States. Located in the Brightwood neighborhood, we are looking forward to new and emerging opportunities to engage a diverse neighborhood and the broader D.C. community.

We are building on the strong foundation that includes twenty-seven years of dedicated and dynamic leadership by Rev. Canon Kortright Davis and over twenty years from Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas. Their vision along with numerous lay leaders, the vestry and wardens of Holy Comforter, and Rev. Canon Michele Hagans led to the creation and dedication of the Walker Center -- a space dedicated to serving D.C. and the broader community by fostering learning, dialogue, and exchange among diverse people.

Holy Comforter is a learning community that embraces the call to join God in co-creating the Beloved Community. We embrace our vocation and “do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God.”
