About Us

St. Thomas is an inclusive and diverse Christ-centered faith community in the Episcopal (Anglican) tradition. We come from many different backgrounds and perspectives, sharing a common commitment to growing faith and love of God and neighbor. We are dedicated to knowing about Christ and making him known.

No matter your age, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation, and no matter where you are on your faith journey, we welcome you and invite you to participate fully in every aspect of our parish life.

Where We are Going

We seek to be a compassionate presence in our neighborhood and at large, deepening our own faith and experience through the welcoming of newcomers and service of the poor, the hungry, the young, and all seeking wholeness of life and spirit.

Ministries

St. Thomas' Day School

Career Services and Education

St. Thomas' Day School is one of our primary outreach ministries.  Serving children ages 2 - 5 through a play curriculum, the Day School is a resource for children and families.

Food Pantry

Food Pantries

Food Pantry distributes food each week on Thursdays from 10 am - noon. Volunteers assist in procurement, organization, hospitality, and distribution. This ministry provides food annually to over 1500 households representing nearly 4500 people in our community. The folks at Little House Green Grocery are a neighborhood grocery store that supports the St. Thomas Food Pantry. Little House offers fresh, Virginia-grown produce, dairy, meats, groceries, and fine pantry staples along with prepared foods, events, and classes. They truly are a neighborhood store, on Bellevue Avenue in the Bellevue neighborhood

Stations of the Cross

Faith Formation

Stations of the Cross takes place in the afternoon on Good Friday. Together with other Northside Churches, St. Thomas walks the Stations of the Cross and prays along a portion of Brookland Park Boulevard.

Refugee Resettlement Project

Advocacy
Immigration Services

Refugee Resettlement Projects work with leadership from Episcopal Migration Ministry through the Virginia Council of Churches to provide support and welcome to refugees in our community. We are currently working with an Afghan family.
