About St. James'
We are a community in Christ, welcoming, serving, and uplifting all, joining generations to reveal God’s love.
We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As constituent members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.
We believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world.
We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons in our church. Laypeople and clergy cooperate as leaders at all levels of our church. Leadership is a gift from God, and can be expressed by all people in our church, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.
We believe that God loves you – no exceptions.

Ministries
Children and Youth Ministries
To welcome our youngest members, St. James' offers a Children's Sermon each week during the Sunday 10 a.m. service. and a child-friendly alternative called Children’s Chapel.
Following the Children's Sermon, those ages 4-10 are invited to Children's Chapel; ages 3 and under are welcome to attend with a guardian.
In Children’s Chapel, our younger worshippers experience worship at their pace and in their language through a story, prayer, and singing.
Beginning at 8:45am for Adult Forum and the 10 a.m. service, we also welcome children ages 0-3 to the Nursery in the Rittenhouse Building, adjacent to the Parish Hall.
Children's Formation happens at 9:00am on Sundays on the 3rd floor of the Janney House.

Grace to Go
- St. James’ Church initiated the “Grace to Go” ministry in 2009, in which community members assemble and cook nutritious meals to distribute to families affected by food insecurity in Leesburg.
- Each week, community members gather to prepare "Grace to Go" meals at Market 93 Provisions (Deli South, Smokin Willy BBQ) in Purcellville from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm on Sunday afternoons
- The meals are available to anyone in the Leesburg community on a first-come, first served basis. Meals are distributed every Sunday at 4 pm at the Leesburg Apartments at 75 Plaza Street.
- Currently, St. James is teaming with Market 93 Provisions, NOVA Church of Christ, Leesburg Presbyterian Church, the Rotary Club of Leesburg, St. David’s Episcopal Church, Beth Chaverim Reform Congregation, and many community volunteers as partners in this vitally important ministry.
Community Garden
Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR) has a need of fresh longer shelf life vegetables for those in need during this difficult time. Rene Dennis has a field and a vision to turn a field into a vegetable bed to help LHR. A casual conversation has led to a new Ministry at St James - the Garden Project. And we planted our first crops on April 22, 2020, Earth Day. Something new being born in this time of trial, with roots in the many prayers offered and service given to others from the community of St James.
The south facing field, located 3/4 mile from Costco in Leesburg measures about 50 x 200’, much smaller than a football field, but huge -huge - to a back yard gardener. Our goal is to produce, over the next several months, tons of cabbage, beans, beets, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, radishes, and onions. They will be grown with love and sweat, but no chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
