St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church

Share a story

Saint Gabriel's Episcopal Church is a young church. The church was founded in 2002 as a daughter church of St. James' Episcopal Church in historic Leesburg and a new mission congregation of the Diocese of Virginia. We exist to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the new and growing communities in Loudoun County.

We are an authentically inclusive community of people and from different backgrounds: from life-long Christians to spiritual seekers. We value the diversity of our members and we continually seek to be a church that reflects the breadth of the community in which we live.

Due to an abundantly generous donation of land, St. Gabriel's will have over 12 acres on which to build our future home. The land is located just east of Leesburg on the northeast corner of Battlefield Parkway and Fort Evans Road where, during the summer, we worship at the Chapel in the Woods. We envision our future church campus to include beautiful space for worship and community life, early childhood education offerings, an after school program for children and teens, an inspiring place for outdoor worship. We see our land as evidence of God's promise for the bright future of St. Gabriel's.

Meanwhile, we are blessed to have wonderful Sunday worship at four locations: the Belmont Ridge Middle School for the English service, St. Gabriel's @ St. Gabriel's for the misa en español - the Spanish language worship service.  We offer a Eucharist service at Saint Gabriel´s at Ashby Ponds, a retirement community on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.  During the summer months we worship outdoors at the Chapel in the Woods.   Christian formation and child care are provided at the main services.  The building is not the church, but the people gathered in faith, building community every day! In response to the question, "When will you build the church?" we say, "We are building it each time new people join St. Gabriel's." Come grow with us!
