Providing Emergency Resources and Relief from Hunger & Despair
“The Jubilee Center* takes its name from the Biblical Year of Jubilee in Leviticus - the great year of social justice. It began with the blowing of the ram's horn trumpet (the jubal) and the cry, “proclaim liberty throughout the land and to all its people!” Since 1984, the St. John’s Soup Kitchen and Office of Social Services have served the communities of Broward County. In late 1995, members of St. John’s along with members of three other congregations - St. James in The Hills, St. Andrew’s, and St. Ann’s - formed The Jubilee Center of South Broward, Inc. in order to expand services to the poor and homeless. The Center is a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Florida. The Board of Directors is composed of members of the four congregations, as well as respected representatives from local cities and from our client community.
Recently Volunteer Broward honored the Jubilee Center as the "Agency of the Year". Volunteer Broward provides a central focus for the development, growth, and coordination of volunteer activities and services within Broward County to over 600 nonprofit organizations in Broward County, Florida.
