St. Timothy's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Timothy Episcopal Church is a community that pursues, wisdom, life, justice, wholeness, and “to experience each other as authentic persons”. We are centrally located in North County San Diego.  Our building was constructed in 2003 and has a modern look including paddled chairs instead of pews.  We have one worship service that begins at 9 am on Sunday mornings followed by “a taste of St. Timothy’s” (also known as coffee hour), which includes coffee, lunch and delicious “homemade” goodies.  Our service is in English.  We have an adult choir and our music is mostly accompanied by a “baby grand” piano and occasionally acoustic guitars and a drum are added to the accompaniment.  During the Sunday service we have a nursery, an elementary Sunday school and once a month we have a Seeker’s Class for the middle school and high school children where discussions which focus on growing up in our quickly changing world are guided by an educational professional.  One Sunday a month we invite our children to attend the entire service for a Family Sunday service.  After “a taste of St. Timothy’s”, we have regular bible study the first and third Sunday of each month and the second Sunday we have forums conducted by both clergy and lay where we discuss various issues.

We have Adult study group on Tuesdays from 6:30 until 8 pm where we discuss life issues, religious issues and theology based on the current book we are discussing.  These groups include meditation and great discussions along with some light evening snacks.

On Wednesdays, we have a variety of services offered in the evening from 6-7 pm.  On the first and third Wednesday, we have a short Eucharist service; on the Second Wednesday, we have Evening prayer from the Book of Common Prayer with Eucharist; on the third Wednesday of the month we have Ancient / Future Service which includes meditation, reflection and special music.

We offer Socratic Cafe every first Thursday of the month from 7-9 pm and discuss various philosophies of life and different authors.  First Saturday of every month, we have a men’s and women’s bible study group that meets from 10 and 11 am.  We provide coffee and bagels and a great discussion.

Pastoral counseling and spiritual direction are offered on an appointment basis as well as family, hospital and home visits.  Please call our office to make an appointment.

We also have a pre-school attached to our church for parents who wish a secure and stimulating environment for their children while they are at work as well as an Irish Dance School studio that offers lessons on Irish Dancing throughout the week.
