Episcopal services were first held in Gallup, New Mexico, in 1892. After meeting for three years in temporary locations, the cornerstone for the first church building was laid at the corner of 2nd and Aztec in 1895. To meet the needs of its growing congregation, the Church of the Holy Spirit built a new church facility in 1953, located on Country Club Drive. The sanctuary’s southwestern modern design reflects the grace and simplicity of its high desert surroundings.
Today, Church of the Holy Spirit is home to a diverse, vibrant community emerging from the pandemic with renewed commitment to fellowship, service, and spiritual growth. It is a mission church of The Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande.
