Trinity Episcopal Church

Share a story

Trinity is an inclusive, progressive, and creative Christian community in the heart of downtown Toledo.

We are committed to this mission:

We will practice radical hospitality.

We will be engaged in the life of our city.

We will stand with those in need: the poor, the sick, the friendless, the marginalized.

We will actively invite all to experience and celebrate God’s living presence.

We will journey together toward a Christ-centered life, pursuing personal ministries that connect us to God, to one another, and to the world around us.

We’re a Christian community that moves to an ancient rhythm with a modern beat. Worship, fellowship, prayer, ministry and service create a sacred rhythm always made new, leading us into God’s future. Whether you’re a regular churchgoer or just someone trying to figure out who this guy Jesus is, you’re welcome here.

We believe that following the way of Jesus Christ is a transformational, lifelong journey. We are called to live out Jesus’ message of love, justice and compassion – to be true followers, not simply fans. To love as Christ loved us, because love is the most powerful force for change and healing in the world.

We don’t pretend to have all of the answers, but we welcome and value the questions. We put our stock in relationships, with God and with one another, rather than in religious rules or doctrines.

Could you use a break in the middle of your busy week? We offer a brief, quiet, meditative Eucharist at midday on Wednesdays. Come as you are to hear the Word and share in the Meal, then go on your way refreshed and reconnected to God. Our regular worship services always include communion - real bread and real wine (with gluten-free wafers for those who need them). Jesus invited everyone to his table, so we invite everyone to God’s table too.

Next to New is the resale shop on the basement level of Trinity’s building, with an entrance on St. Clair Street. The shop is open on Mondays & Thursdays from 9:30 am to 3 pm. Next to New sells new and gently used goods donated by Trinity members and friends to our downtown neighbors at affordable prices. The proceeds from the shop fund a significant percentage of Trinity’s other outreach services.

Sacred Ground Race Dialogue Circles

Racial Reconciliation

Sacred Ground is dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race, racism, and whiteness while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity. The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

Sacred Ground is a resource coming out of Becoming Beloved Community, The Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation, and justice in our personal lives, our ministries, and our society. This series is especially designed to help white people talk with other white people, while being open to all racial/ethnic groups. Participants are invited to peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day – all while grounded in our call to faith, hope and love.
