Ministries
FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY
Each December we ring the bells in Gambier to gather food to supply our local food pantries.
INTERCHURCH SOCIAL SERVICES OF MOUNT VERNON (ISS)
ISS is an outreach ministry supported by many Knox County churches including Harcourt Parish. It provides assistance for a wide variety of human need, including emergency food and shelter, counseling and job training. Harcourt Parish provides financial support for the work and many members of the parish are active volunteers or on the Board of Directors. We also collect a substantial number of Christmas gifts for Interchurch clients in late November and early December. Harcourt Parish does all our direct aid (gas, rent, food help) through Interchurch.
KNOX COUNTY HOSPICE
The Parish provides both financial and volunteer support to this end-of-life-care facility.
WINTER SANCTUARY
Harcourt Parish was one of the founding members of the Winter Sanctuary Homless Shelter of Knox County. We also donated funds to build a handicap accessible bath and shower room for the guests. Each year we mobilize parishioners, Kenyon College students and members of the Gambier community to staff the shelter.
CROP WALK
Each year Harcourt Parish sponsors a CROP Walk team. 25% of the funds we raise stay in Knox County. They are given to Interchurch Social Services to support their food bank. 75% of the funds are given internationally for hunger relief.
CUTTINGTON UNIVERSITY
Harcourt Parish has a special relationship with Cuttington Unviersity in Liberia. We are building a rich friendship with alumni and staff from the school, and helping connect them with needed resources.
EPISCOPAL RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT
An international relief and development agency that offers a compassionate response to human suffering on behalf of The Episcopal Church. ERD works to heal a hurting world guided by the principles of compassion, dignity and generosity.
