St. Stephen's Episcopal Church

Share a story

St. Stephen's is a welcoming congregation, inviting all to experience the fullness of the love of God in Jesus Christ. We include both traditional and non-traditional families in our parish. We are proud to be open to all without judgment. Many of our congregation are single or widowed. We are a caring and pastoral church and provide a wide range of activities for education, fellowship, worship and outreach. In addition, St. Stephen's houses a fine nursery school for about 70 children from the community.

The Episcopal Church began in Fairview in 1907 as Trinity Mission. By 1964 population growth in the area warranted expansion, so the Trinity Mission joined a group of parishioners from St. Paul's Cathedral to form St. Stephen's. The present church was built at that time, but was expanded by the addition of an educational wing in 1969 and was remodeled and expanded again in 1997 by the addition of more space for Christian Education, a library, chapel and remodeled offices and kitchen facilities.

St. Stephen's is Handicap Accessible.

Sunday School

Faith Formation

11:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday mornings – September through May

Sunday School is a structured time of learning and formation that brings children together to explore the story of God and God’s people through Bible stories, activities, art, music, and more. Children are welcome to join us at any point throughout the year.

We currently have three classes: Pre-K, K-2nd grade, and 3rd-6th grade. Classes are taught by dedicated volunteers from the St. Stephen’s community.

Occasionally the classes come together to recap the lesson units, to celebrate special holy days, and to learn more about the traditions of our faith.

We use a curriculum called, Weaving God’s Promises, that is grounded in the tradition of the Episcopal Church and shares the stories of God’s people.

Transition from worship to Sunday School includes a Children’s Procession after the blessing. Children are invited to follow the cross, carried by one of the children, to one of the Sunday School rooms where they will enjoy a small snack together before splitting into the three classes.

For more information about Sunday School, please call the church office.
