St. Mark's Episcopal Church

Share a story

On June 5, 1909, Bishop Alexander Garrett, who served as the Bishop of Northern Texas from 1874-1910, gave consent to the organization of Mission of the Holy Spirit. In 1915, a frame church was built, which was later remodeled and bricked; a rectory was added, and in 1989, a parish hall completed the property. The mission took the name St. Mark's in the fall of 1950, as suggested by a parishioner. The mission has served the Coleman area consistently since 1909.
